Exhibition Guidelines

The International Award winner and Keystone Award winner will have exhibitions presented by Silver Eye opening in early 2017. Specific dates to be announced.

The final checklist for the exhibition (including number and size of prints from the submitted portfolio) will be determined in direct consultation with Silver Eye Center for Photography’s Executive Director.

In some instances, we may decide to omit work originally submitted and substitute other images from the same portfolio or series for the exhibition.

Selected Work

All exhibition prints must be professionally printed, matted (if applicable), framed, or mounted. Due to space considerations, we cannot exhibit prints that are larger than 40 x 30 inches.

The artist pays for one-way shipping with an agreed-upon carrier such as FedEx and for expenses related to the packing of the work.

Silver Eye Center for Photography will cover return shipping using a price-match of the cost of shipping for the initial delivery. Receipts must be remitted to Silver Eye from the artist to verify shipping costs. If the price of return shipping exceeds the price-match, the artist will cover the difference for the cost.

Silver Eye provides wall-to-wall insurance once the work is on-site.

Specific insurance coverage, timetables for delivery/installation/de-installation, and mutual responsibilities will be outlined in a letter of agreement signed by both the artist and Silver Eye Center for Photography.

I’m not a professional photographer. Do I stand a chance at winning?

Of course! We welcome work from artists at every career level, whether you’re a talented beginner or a seasoned professional. However, please bear in mind the judging criteria as you plan your submission and that the competition is keen for these prestigious awards. Last year we received over 250 entries from around the world. To qualify to enter the competition, you must also be over 18 years of age at the time of your submission.

How can I become a Silver Eye member or renew my membership?

You can join or renew during the online entry process or by visiting, http://www.silvereye.org/support. Or, you can join or renew by contacting Juliana Zipay at 412.431.1810, ext. 1, or at jzipay@silvereye.org.

Will you waive fees for students, senior citizens, or financial need?

Unfortunately no. We cannot waive fees under any circumstances. Fees go toward covering a part of our administrative costs for running the competition and presenting the related exhibitions.

Can I submit multiple entries?

Yes. You can submit as many times as you like, assuming you can afford to pay the entry fee each time. All of your contact information can remain the same for each entry. Regardless of which price-tier you originally apply at, additional submissions are $20 each.

For example, a current Silver Eye member can make their first submission with no fee, but their second submission will be $20. Similarly, those applying as non-members will pay $55 during their first submission, and the second submission will be $20. Simply select the “Additional Submission, $20″ option on the application form when submitting your payment.

Can I get a refund?

No. Entry fees are non-refundable.

When are the winners announced?

Judging will be completed at the beginning of November 2016, and the winners will be notified and announced shortly thereafter. All other applications will be notified by email by December 2016.

Will you print and frame my photographs if I am chosen as a winner?

No. Photographs must be exhibition-ready and ready to hang by the time of exhibition coordination if you are chosen as a winner.

Questions about how and where to print and frame, and the best practices for printing and framing, can be directed to info@silvereye.org.

Will you sell work exhibited in the gallery?

Yes, we can if the artist so requests. Silver Eye retains 40% commission on work sold during the exhibition.
