Diving into the headlines of well known newspapers, Luke Stettner freezes the textual proclamations about war, conflict and global strife that fill the media landscape around us. Using only text to guide viewers, Firing at Stone Throwers asks us to consider how we ascribe meaning to violent language when there are no images to guide our thinking. Stettner holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, and has had recent exhibitions at Storm King Art Center and Kate Werble Gallery. His recent book, Carrel, was made in collaboration with Max Stolkin & Ofer Wolberger and published by Flatfix.biz
