Informed by his work as a set designer, Robert Chase Heishman approaches photography spatially. Here, a box fan and the wall behind it are covered in stickers depicting the same room, creating alluring and whimsical portals across space and time. This work belongs to the series AWARE, which ruminates on the architecture of an image by disrupting, confusing, and playing with space. Heishman holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from Northwestern University. He has collaborated with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Sigur Rós, and Radiohead. His work is held in the collections of the Nelson–Atkins Museum of Art and the Walker Art Center.
