Dan Boardman’s recent analog photo ‘collages’ are striking not only for the ways in which they seem to reach out to the broader aesthetic history of the 20th century, but also for the aggressively restrictive parameters of their process. Made entirely in–camera, using hand cut masks on 4x5 and 8x10 negatives, a single image may be the composite of as many as 200 separate exposures. This work was inspired by, and derives its title from, the Stephen Covey book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Boardman's work has been exhibited at The Bakalar & Paine Galleries in Boston, MA, and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.
