Sue Abramson is a fine art photographer working in Pittsburgh who has produced work using a variety of methods. These photographs, clockwise titled Below the Kinzua Bridge, The Atlantic Ocean on the way to the Bahamas, Walking Along Chartiers Creek, Alex in the Family Tent, and Raccoon Creek State Park, belong to the series Awake in Blue, and were taken during family vacations and adventures, using 19th century landscape photography as inspiration. For Abramson, the blue color created by the cyanotype process evokes a powerful emotional response. Widely exhibited, her work has been acquired for many permanent collections, including The Carnegie Museum of Art, and The Polaroid Corporation.
