An ordinary fence post, a field, and a set of power lines are gloriously and absurdly interrupted by the body and neck of a zebra with no face. Rory Mulligan’s direct and unembellished images contain a deep appreciation for the craft of photography, and an ability for mundane moments to feel simultaneously familiar and extraordinary. In Mulligan’s masterful hands, the surface of each photograph feels luxe, and the grayscale of the images glow in shades of silver. Mulligan holds an MFA from Yale University and his work is featured in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
