Lonnie Graham believes artists are creative problem solvers who play an integral role in society. In one of his most well known projects, Conversation with the World, Graham spent decades traveling across the globe, interviewing strangers and photographing them. In Reflection of Life, Graham pictures a cassette tape, a method of recording and widely distributing information. This image speaks to Graham’s desire for artists to act as conduits on a broad scale, enhancing human connections and growing community. Lonnie Graham is a Pew Fellow and Professor at Pennsylvania State University. He also served as Director of Photography at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
