Silver Eye Center for Photography announces a Call for Entries for Fellowship 21, our annual photography competition. Winners receive a cash award and an exhibition at Silver Eye with free production support from the Lab @ Silver Eye. Winning exhibitions will take place in the summer of 2021. Two prizes and four honorable mentions will be included in the exhibition, The Fellowship Award recognizes a rising talent or established photographer from anywhere in the world, and the Keystone Award is given to an exceptional photographer living or making work in the state of Pennsylvania.
This year’s awards will be juried by a panel consisting of Drew Sawyer, the Philip Leonian and Edith Rosenbaum Leonian Curator for Photography at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York, Elizabeth Chodos, Executive Director and Curator at the Miller Institute of Contemporary Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Karen Irvine, Chief Curator and Deputy Director, Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago, Chicago Illinois.
All award winners and honorable mentions will receive a cash prize and be included in the Fellowship 21 exhibition in the summer of 2021.

About the Jurors
Elizabeth Chodos is the director of the Regina Gouger Miller Institute of Contemporary Art at Carnegie Mellon University. She joined the university in fall 2017 from Ox-Bow, school of art and artists’ residency (Saugatuck, Michigan), where she served as executive and creative director. To date, Chodos has focused her career on promoting the work of contemporary artists through residencies, higher education, exhibitions and public programming. She is the curator of the retrospective Andrea Zittel: An Institute of Investigative Living in 2019 and Paradox: The Body in the Age of AI in 2018.
Karen Irvine is Chief Curator and Deputy Director, Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago. She has organized over forty five exhibitions of contemporary photography, at the MoCP and other venues including the Hyde Park Art Center; Rockford Art Museum; Lishui International Photography Festival, China; Daegu Photography Biennale, South Korea, and the New York Photo Festival. Irvine has contributed texts to many publications including FOAM, Art on Paper and Contemporary magazines and monographs including Ann Lislegaard: Eyes Wide Open (The Royal Museum of Photography, Copenhagen); Paula McCartney: Non-flights of Fancy (Princeton Architectural Press), Barbara Probst: Exposures (Steidl), Redheaded Peckerwood by Christian Patterson (MACK), and Stefan Heyne Speak to Me (Hatje Cantz), amongst others.
Drew Sawyer is an art historian and a curator, who holds the title of the Phillip Leonian and Edith Rosenbaum Leonian Curator at the Brooklyn Museum. He has previously held curatorial positions at the Columbus Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Chazen Museum of Art. He received a 2020 Award for Excellence from the Association of Art Museum Curators. His recent exhibitions have included, Art after Stonewall, 1969-1989 (2019); I Too Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100 (2018); Red Horizon: Contemporary Art and Photography in the USSR and Russia, 1960-2010 (2017); Golden State (2017); The Sun Placed in the Abyss (2016), and 'Social Forces Visualized': Photography and Scientific Charity, 1900-1920 (2011), Garry Winogrand: Color (2019); Liz Johnson Artur: Dusha (2019); Isaac Julien: Looking for Langston (2018); and Family Pictures (2018).
