Granville Carroll

As Above So Below

2019
Archival pigment print
24 x 30 inches
Edition of 10, signed stick on verso

In As Above So Below, Granville Carroll creates a meeting of earth and sky, with a mound of glittering stone bisecting the image, giving way to a celestial spread of stars and galaxies. The titular idiom implies a sense of interconnectedness that could allude to a number of dichotomies - heaven and earth, reality and imagination, life and death, known and unknown. While simple in its subject matter, and without any subjects or overt narrative, the image conjures an array of possibilities, meanings and reflections.

Granville Carroll is a visual artist currently based in Rochester, NY. Carroll holds a Masters of Fine Art (2020) in photography and related media from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Carroll’s work is influenced by Afrofuturism and spirituality.

This is an unframed archival pigment print created by master printer at the lab at Silver Eye. We offer framing, mounting, and matting services for this print, please contact Kate Kelley at kate@silvereye.org for more information.
