Granville Carroll's series, Because the Sun Hath Looked Upon Me is a photographic project examining identity construction on an individual, societal, and cosmological level. In Ori, Granville has created a portrait which appears to be filled with glittery galaxies - radiating starlight into the blackness which surrounds the figure. Bringing the cosmos inside the figure, Carroll posits a limitless space of potential for his subject.

Granville Carroll is a visual artist currently based in Rochester, NY. Carroll holds a Masters of Fine Art (2020) in photography and related media from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Carroll’s work is influenced by Afrofuturism and spirituality.

This is an unframed archival pigment print created by master printer at the lab at Silver Eye. We offer framing, mounting, and matting services for this print, please contact Kate Kelley at kate@silvereye.org for more information.
