Silver Eye is happy to announce the winners of Fellowship 20, our annual juried call for entries! Winners receive a cash honorarium as well as a solo exhibition at Silver Eye in the Summer of 2020.

Fellowship Award

Awarded to an artist working anywhere in the world

Juror: Julie Crooks, Assistant Curator of Photography, (Art Gallery of Ontario AGO)

Rory Doyle

Rory Doyle's project, Delta Hill Riders, is an ongoing series which explores the subculture of African American cowboys and cowgirls in the rural Mississippi Delta, shedding light on a band of horse riders that have historically been overlooked.

Doyle is a 2018 Mississippi Visual Artist Fellow through the Mississippi Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts for Delta Hill Riders. Doyle won the 16th Annual Smithsonian Photo Contest with the project, and was additionally awarded the Southern Prize from South Arts organization.

Keystone Award

Awarded to an artist living or making photographs in the state of Pennsylvania

Juror: Dan Leers, Curator of Photography, Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA)

Erik Hagen

Erik Hagen's series, entitled Team Member is comprised of both photography and text, and explores the artist's experience working in retail customer service for a large cooperation. Hagen looks to the psychological effects of this environment, and the feeling of losing one's identity in the face of corporate dogma and the raw desire of the customer.

Hagen is an artist based in Lancaster, PA, whose work has appeared in numerous group shows, both in the United States and internationally, and he was a selected participant in Review Santa Fe. He is interested in the ways in which jobs affect the psychological space of the people who work them.
