Silver Eye

This event presents seven short films by students of ‘Poetics, Performance & Punk', a course led by Felicity Palma in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. This course provides a critical overview of Do-It-Yourself filmmaking practices that have consciously resisted against established film culture from the 1960s to the present day. The presented films are the outcome of the students’ exploration of the possible methods, approaches, interventions, histories, and potential futures of DIY filmmaking and their consideration of filmmaking as a means of community and defiance. The screening of films will last approximately thirty minutes and be followed by a Q&A with the participating artists.
