Printing on Fabric
Digital printing on fabric is a relatively new technology that involves a system where companies create a fabric that can be sent through an inkjet printer, creating a crisp saturated image without sacrificing the printer or image quality. It’s possible to print on linen, polyester mesh, silk, and cotton to name a few options. For artists and photographers, these prints can then be used for installations, wearables, painting or collage, stand-alone prints, and more. Once past the initial learning curve, this process is easy and accessible for artists with the right lab.
This workshop will teach you how to make their own fabric prints from the start with a raw image to the end of pulling the print off the paper. This includes skills such as choosing a fabric, image processing and sizing based on fabric type, printer settings, and fabric print handling. Once the initial demo is over participants will create a small test print on fabric based on their image.
