The Lab @ Silver Eye presents our first Lab Members Show, Full Moon Fever. What metaphors are lurking in the shadows and what's obscured by light? In this modern age of LED street lamps and Retina displays, do we still rush out to look at the full moon? Have we illuminated all the dark hallways with our iPhones, or are there others? On the occasion of All Hallows' Eve we will celebrate the passage of time, images that haunt us in our sleep, and harvest what light remains. Join us for a show that explores thoughts on darkness, shadows, and the unbearable lightness of seeing.

Karen Lue is a first-generation Chinese American artist whose photographs explore aspects of identity in relation to concepts of grief, loss, isolation, and displacement. Chronicling her own construction of identity beginning with the search for “home,” she looks for objects, people, and scenes that objectify feelings of irrelevance in environments that are supposed to function as spaces of shelter and refuge. She also examines her identity through self-portraiture and the body as it is shaped by her race, ethnicity, chronic illness, and mental well-being.
Ross Mantle a photographer dividing time between self-initiated projects, client commissions and teaching at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Mantle has been commissioned by Monocle, Dwell, Metropolis, The FADER, TIME, WSJ., The New York Times, WIRED, Rolling Stone, Bloomberg Businessweek, NPR, Mother Jones, Herman Miller, Google-Design, American Express, Air Canada, MASS MoCA, Whole Foods Market, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden amongst others. My prints and books are in the collections of the Antenna Reading Room, Franklin Furnace Artists’ Books Collection, Herman Miller Inc., Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The MFAH Hirsch Library, and The Houston Center for Photography’s John Cleary Library among others.
