In The In-Between, multiple incarnations of photographic images claim their place next to real life - commingling in disharmony. Trisha Holt creates images, then re-photographs her subjects or objects with their photographic counterpoints. As the artist states, “Cameras are turning us into pieces of the moments we have lived. We’ve left behind these plants and clouds and oranges. They had their moment of being alive, but it is now over. They are forever stuck in the was. Our hands can’t feel the sticky sweetness of the pulp, because it is only paper.”
Participating Artist
Trisha Holt received her Masters of Fine Art in Photography at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Holt is a visual artist and photographer interested in the physical properties of the photographic print and the possibilities of its reproduction as a way to address the power of images in contemporary culture. Her images are printed and positioned as life-size, topographical, and site specific installations which are then re-framed in new photographs or experienced as sculptural objects.
