Radial Survey is a new biennial exhibition of the preeminent emerging and mid-career photo based artists working within 300 miles of Pittsburgh. Our goal is to highlight work and support artists from places that are sometimes overlooked in the national photography conversation. Our curatorial team has selected twelve significant artists with diverse practices, whose work engages with this region, its communities, and histories. In addition participating in this major biennial exhibition the artists in Radial Survey will be be the subject of an extensive exhibition catalog to be published in early 2020. Portfolios from Radial Survey artists will be on loan at Silver Eye for two years, available for gallery visitors to explore and study. Radial Survey will form a new, diverse, and expansive resource for our community. A symposium with artists from Radial Survey and scholars from around the region will be held on May 24th & 25th to discuss the exhibition's themes and the survey’s broader implications.
Radial Survey is curated and organized by David Oresick, Kate Kelley, Leo Hsu, Ross Mantle, Elana Schlenker, and Sean Stewart.
