Nando Alvarez-Perez uses photography to create vivid, colorful, sculptural installations which draw upon the material languages of interior design, trade fairs, science fiction, art, history and capitalism. Each of Alvarez-Perez’s images are packed with visual juxtapositions, allusions to cultural touchstones and references to the history of human creativity. These images appear as flattened and collage-like images which exude a kitsch-like quality that mirrors the vast and seemingly endless range of imagery we encounter in our consumer-driven, late capitalist culture.

Nando Alvarez-Perez holds a BFA in Film Studies from Hunter College and an MFA in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He co-founded the Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art in Buffalo, NY in 2018.
